Napa Insider Tips from Calistoga Ranch’s Concierge

May 24, 2013

Calistoga Ranch concierge, Gloria Noel, shares some of her best insider knowledge on the area!

1) What’s one thing that shouldn’t be missed in Napa?

The Diamond Creek Vineyard. It was California’s first exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon Estate vineyard and boasts charming views of the Valley, incredible wines, and a 4-course homemade lunch made by the vineyard owner herself.

2) Describe your perfect day in wine country.

I’d start with vineyard tours and lunch at the Diamond Creek vineyard, then explore the Harris Estate Vineyards. Finally, I’d cap off the day with dinner at the Lakehouse at Calistoga Ranch.

3) How about non-wine or food activities in Napa?

There is so much to do! Some of my favorites include bike tours, zip lining adventures, fishing, and rafting. A popular adventure is checking out the vineyards from above in a hot air balloon.

4) What are some of the guests’ favorite restaurants?

Napa Valley is filled with some of the best Calistoga dining experiences in the world. To name a few: the Lakehouse at Calistoga Ranch, Auberge du Soleil, Redd, Ad Hoc, Press, Meadowood, and Bouchon.

5) What’s hot outside of the French Laundry?

Bottega Restaurant in Yountville. Chef Michael Chiarello has perfected bold Italian flavor using local produce and artisanal ingredients. The restaurant is decorated in a warm, rustic palette that includes private dining rooms, and a gorgeous outdoor terrace lounge.

6) Where can you expect the most romantic meal?

Hands down the Restaurant at Auberge du Soleil. Nothing beats enjoying panoramic views of the vineyards from the terrace with a bottle of award-winning wine and cuisine.

7) What is the most romantic activity you’ve planned for a guest?

We created a trail of love notes that lead up to a private dinner at the Calistoga Ranch Spa. The meal ended in a beautiful engagement proposal!

8) What’s your favorite thing about Napa?

Its hard to pick one! The exquisite beauty, great wines, and the best restaurants in the world are at the top of my list.
