Auberge Resorts Collection will introduce the brand’s customized guest experiences inspired by Telluride’s natural spirit of adventure and exploration. Ideally situated in the heart of Mountain Village, the alpine resort sits mid-mountain above the historic mining town of Telluride. The 83-room and 71-residence hotel has on its doorstep the world-famous Telluride Ski Resort, along with year-round recreation, shopping and festivals and offers easy gondola access to Telluride and the valley below.

“Telluride is a town of great history, character and lore. It is where Butch Cassidy robbed his first bank and was the first city lit by Nikola Tesla’s method of alternating current electric power. More recently Telluride has been recognized as one of the best ski destinations in the U.S. and the world,” said Craig Reid, President and Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts Collection. “The Madeline is the premier resort in Telluride and benefits from an unparalleled setting and concept as well as significant recent investment, making it an ideal addition to the Auberge Resorts Collection portfolio. We will capture the local Telluride free-spirited sense of adventure in this beautiful resort.”

“It was an easy decision to bring Auberge’s distinctive flare for blending luxurious experiences with the local flavor of a destination to the Madeline to complement its existing outstanding reputation and desirable location,” said Greg Flynn, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Flynn Properties.

Surrounded on three sides by the dramatic 14,000-foot peaks of the San Juan Mountains, the Madeline welcomes guests as well as locals with a contemporary alpine design that honors Auberge Resorts Collection’s commitment to celebrate the essence of each resort’s spectacular setting. Spacious, recently renovated guest rooms and suites and one- to four-bedroom residential condominiums were designed to the highest standards and offer expansive mountain and Mountain Village views, private balconies, heated floors and steam showers, and deep soaking bathtubs for relaxing after a day outdoors – among many others sophisticated amenities.

Further making the Madeline the envy of all Telluride hospitality, the resort offers world-class services catering to families, groups and anyone looking for the ultimate Telluride experiences, including: the best ski-in/ski-out access in town; slope-side Ski Valet offering seamless service and piping hot chocolate; The Madeline Ice Rink, where skaters can enjoy special event programming, DJ parties and broomball; the 3,000-square-foot M Lounge, featuring a game room (pool, shuffleboard, darts), outdoor fire tables and an indoor/outdoor bar; an alpine-inspired spa and salon, along with yoga and personal training at Madeline Studio; and even an outpost of Dylan’s Candy Bar.

Auberge and Executive Chef William Nolan will bring their award-winning culinary expertise to the Madeline’s contemporary signature restaurant, Black Iron Kitchen and Bar, delivering authentic, rustic cuisine with the pioneering spirit of the American West.

At the heart of the resort lies Telluride’s latest sought-after destination – the 4,000-square-foot Sky Terrace, a year-round gathering place with heated outdoor swimming pool, hot tubs, fire pits, al fresco living room and lounge and special seasonal programming. From the Sky Terrace’s 9,000-foot elevation, guests and residence owners can take in sweeping down-valley views and legendary sunsets, as well as distinctive cocktails and après ski events called “Cool at the Pool,” featuring pink flamingo floaties for the kids and adult hot toddies such as the “Tea-quila Toddy.”

An inspiring venue for mountain-view weddings, retreats or group gatherings, the Madeline features nearly 4,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, including a 3,300-square-foot ballroom that can accommodate up to 270 guests. Here, guests can breathe in the pure mountain air, nourish their spirit and discover new passions.

Auberge Resorts Collection To Manage Mukul, The Award-Winning Luxury Resort On Nicaragua’s Emerald Coast

Auberge’s Expanded Central America Presence Now Spans Iconic Coastal And Mountain Destinations, With Private Air Access Connecting Both

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (October 31, 2017) – Auberge Resorts Collection, owner and operator of award-winning small luxury resorts, residences and clubs, today announced that, as of November 15, 2017, the company will manage Mukul, the pioneering and multi-award-winning luxury resort in Nicaragua. Mukul, which captivated the world with the pristine beauty of Nicaragua when it opened as the country’s first luxury resort in 2013, is the vision of prominent Nicaraguan entrepreneur Don Carlos Pellas, who developed the 37-room resort and surrounding private residential beach community to celebrate the country’s biodiversity, rich culture and tradition of gracious hospitality.

“Mukul is an extraordinary destination and a testament to the vision of Don Carlos Pellas, who created a uniquely Nicaraguan experience that rivals the great resorts of the world,” said Dan Friedkin, Owner and Chairman, Auberge Resorts Collection. “We are delighted to welcome Mukul to the Auberge portfolio and expand our presence of exceptional resorts in Central America.”

“I am so pleased about our new relationship with Auberge Resorts Collection, whose team shares my commitment to the highest standards and my passion for highly personalized service,” said Don Carlos Pellas, Owner and Developer, Mukul. “Everything at Mukul has been created to welcome the most sophisticated travelers in the world. I want them to feel like guests in my family’s home as they discover the Nicaragua that I love.”

“Mukul offers Auberge guests an unparalleled opportunity to explore the country and rich culture of Nicaragua,” said Craig Reid, President and Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts Collection. “From its four miles of pristine beach with world-class surfing, to its David McLay Kidd golf course, exceptional spa and thoroughly captivating accommodations, Mukul blends luxury with an exciting sense of discovery. We are honored and delighted to bring these special experiences to our guests.”

Mukul complements Auberge’s other award-winning Central American resort, Hacienda AltaGracia, a private estate hotel set in the verdant south-central highlands of Costa Rica. With Mukul’s Costa Esmeralda International Airport minutes away and Hacienda AltaGracia’s private airstrip, guests will benefit from easy access to two of Central America’s most acclaimed resorts and two extraordinary destinations to create the ideal beach and mountain adventure.

Mukul, named for the Mayan word for “secret,” is located in a beachfront enclave on 1,670 acres defined by white sand beach, lush coastal forest and hills, home to four species of monkeys and abundant birdlife. The resort is the heart of Guacalito de la Isla, a $250-million private beach community on Nicaragua’s Emerald Coast.

Conceived as a relaxed yet luxurious estate by the ocean, the resort features 37 accommodations, including 12 Beach Villas, private one- and two-bedroom suites offering 2,000 to 4,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor space, panoramic ocean views, private swimming pools and gardens, wrap-around decks and outdoor showers. Interiors feature custom-designed furnishings showcasing Nicaraguan craftsmanship, floor-to-ceiling windows and spacious bathroom suites designed as sanctuaries for the senses, each highlighted by a “Liquid Temple” wet room with freestanding soaking tub and monsoon shower.

Mukul’s 23 iconic Bohios resemble luxurious treehouses nestled in the hillside forest overlooking the resort’s private beach 300 feet below. Constructed of sustainable teak and pine, each of the 621-square-foot cliff houses features floor-to-ceiling windows and a wrap-around deck with private plunge pool. Spacious bath suites feature couples’ “showers-with-a-view.” The “jewel in the crown” is Casona Don Carlos, the Pellas’ private beach house, a 20,000- square-foot oceanfront compound featuring an expansive indoor-outdoor living area with a soaring 80-foot-high palapa ceiling. Six bedroom suites are divided into two buildings featuring a wrap-around stone terrace and sharing a large private swimming pool.

Auberge will bring its renowned culinary signature to Mukul’s four restaurants to showcase cuisine from the Americas and Nicaragua’s abundance of local product. Guests will have a variety of bar and dining options, including La Mesa, for sophisticated Latin-inspired cuisine, to La Terraza, for al fresco dining with views of the ocean, Palapa Lounge, a beachside bar offering small bites, cocktails and daily vintage rum tastings, and Tres Ceibas, a dramatic bar built around a Ceiba tree and serving wood-fired pizza, burgers and other casual fare.

Amenities include Spa Mukul, a resort-within-a-resort featuring six spacious spa sanctuaries, each with its own private pool, décor, ambiance and signature spa ritual, and each harnessing a different ancient healing tradition. Yoga classes are led by an in-house instructor on the treetop Yoga Pavilion overlooking the beach.

The resort’s private Guacalito Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by David McLay Kidd to embrace the natural landscape. It features a clubhouse, putting green, driving range, pro shop, golf carts, a golf academy where golfers can fine tune their skills and golf-training games for children.

Surfing conditions are excellent at Mukul and include a signature left-point wave break right in front of the resort. Tropicsurf, the pioneer of luxury surfing, offers full-time surf guidance, from lessons to guided half-day panga “surfaris” to secluded spots up and down the Emerald Coast, perfect for expert and novice alike.

Auberge Adventures will make the most of Nicaragua’s endless opportunities for exploration, from volcano “surfing,” to cultural forays into the colorful Spanish Colonial city of Granada, to visiting with local artisans.

The property is being developed by an ownership team led by Austin-based developers Clark Lyda, The Marchbanks Company and Austin Pfiester. Woodbine Development Corporation is providing project management services. The project’s creative team spearheading the redevelopment is comprised of internationally-renowned urbanist Stefanos Polyzoides of Moule & Polyzoides from Pasadena, California, and renowned interior designer Ken Fulk from San Francisco, collaborating with Austin-based Clayton & Little Architects and Ten Eyck Landscape Architects.

Plans call for the restoration of the historic landmark estate and the creation of an urban oasis on the property located in the heart of the city. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the estate is comprised of a 10,800-square-foot Italian Renaissance-style home and formal gardens enclosed within a 10-acre walled compound on the headwaters of Waller Creek. The new luxury hotel will encompass 53 guest rooms, flexible event space, and a destination restaurant featuring a culinary experience driven by locally sourced ingredients, including those sourced from the estate’s own organic gardens. In addition to a small hotel, the development will offer new Auberge-branded residences as part of the second phase of construction, complete with access to signature hotel amenities and services.

“Auberge has an outstanding reputation for creating hotels that have extraordinary character,” said Dan Friedkin, chairman, Auberge Resorts Collection. “The Commodore Perry Estate offers an exceptional setting for Auberge’s signature style of tailored luxury and unforgettable guest experiences. It will be an ideal complement to the other iconic properties in our collection.”

“Auberge has been selected to be a steward of the next chapter in the property’s history,” said Craig Reid, president and chief executive officer, Auberge Resorts Collection, and a former Austin resident. “As we have with the other historic hotels in our collection, we will honor the architectural heritage of the estate while infusing the unique character that defines Austin.”

“Auberge Resorts Collection has a proven track record of creating and managing remarkable properties,” said Clark Lyda, partner and developer. “We are pleased to have found an operator that shares both our vision for The Commodore Perry Estate and our commitment to ensuring its future as one of Austin’s most cherished gathering places.”

The Perry Mansion was designed in 1927 by prominent Dallas architect H.B. Thomson and features rich classical influences such as a grand central hall and loggia, carved limestone fireplaces, handcrafted plaster and ironwork, and expansive formal gardens, making it one of Austin’s premier locations for gatherings such as weddings and social events. Located just north of the University of Texas campus and the new Dell Medical School, the hotel will be an urban retreat for locals and visitors alike.

The hotel will open in mid-2019. For more information, please visit www.aubergeresorts.com/perry-estate-austin

Auberge Resorts Collection to Manage Santa Fe’s Legendary Bishop’s Lodge

MILL VALLEY, CALIF. (June 5, 2017) – Auberge Resorts Collection, owner and operator of award-winning small luxury resorts, residences and clubs, today announced that the company will manage Bishop’s Lodge, the historic Santa Fe resort located in the foothills of New Mexico’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Set on over 300 acres, Bishop’s Lodge, which first opened in 1918, is undergoing a $75 million renovation that will restore its longtime status and reimagine the guest experience for the modern luxury traveler. Upon completion, the resort will feature 92 guest rooms and suites, plus three tents and 12 residences, an Auberge Spa, a new restaurant and lounge with expanded outdoor seating, an art studio/gallery, two swimming pools, stables and a trail riding program, cultural and family programs, and many other exciting offerings of active outdoor adventures.

“This historic property is beloved by so many who have traveled to Santa Fe through the years. We are excited to embrace the Lodge’s iconic character while elevating it to a one-of-a-kind luxury resort experience,” said Dan Friedkin, Chairman, Auberge Resorts Collection. “Bishop’s Lodge will be a vibrant addition to the Auberge portfolio. In February, we opened Chileno Bay Resort & Residences in Los Cabos, and in March we announced the addition of the Lodge at Blue Sky in Utah. Assuming management of Bishop’s Lodge is another significant step toward our goal of being the world’s leading owner and operator of boutique luxury hotels.”

“Bishop’s Lodge offers what simply cannot be manufactured – a superb location close to the culturally rich attractions of Santa Fe and a pristine natural setting renowned for its spectacular landscape and panoramic views,” said Craig Reid, President and Chief Executive Officer, Auberge Resorts Collection. “We are delighted to be working with HRV Hotel Partners to re-introduce Bishop’s Lodge in Santa Fe as an Auberge resort – it will be a uniquely memorable experience for all who visit this exceptional property.”

Set to reopen in summer 2018, Bishop’s Lodge is ideally situated in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, just four miles from the historic Santa Fe Plaza. Once renovation is complete, Bishop’s Lodge will feature an exceptional variety of luxury accommodations – from guest rooms and suites redesigned in an updated Santa Fe style, complete with kiva fireplaces, large terraces and comfortable oversized furniture, to luxe “glamping” tents for guests to enjoy the incredible experience of sleeping under millions of stars. Families and small groups will also have new options, including a modern-rustic bunkhouse along with three- and four-bedroom residences offering sweeping mountain views.

For gatherings, meetings and celebrations, Bishop’s Lodge will offer new indoor-outdoor spaces, including a 3,500-square-foot tented event pavilion with an adjoining lawn, multiple event lawns and the centerpiece of the resort: a preserved chapel, originally constructed under Archbishop Lamy in the 1860s, alongside a formal wedding garden. Complementing the resort’s physical enhancements will be a paradise of outdoor adventure activities for all levels, including horseback riding, mountain bike trail riding, hiking and fly fishing. The Auberge Spa will tap into the restorative spiritual energy Santa Fe is known for by offering immersive yoga, meditation and healing therapies, all led by top instructors and wellness practitioners. The cultural programming will celebrate the rich history of the land, Native American traditions, art exhibitions and the soulful experiences of the region.

“Santa Fe is a destination for culture, spirit and adventure, a world heritage city with a rich past. Its history would not be complete without Bishop’s Lodge, a legendary hotel whose stunning setting and rustic beauty has cast a magical spell on guests from all over the world,” said Mark Harmon, Founder, Auberge Resorts Collection. “We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome this iconic place into our collection of unique hotels and resorts.”

“We’re excited to partner with Auberge Resorts Collection on our restoration and enhancement of this treasured resort,” said Richard Holland, Managing Partner, HRV Hotel Partners. “Auberge’s extraordinary talent for creating transformative experiences, as well as the most gracious and personalized service, makes them the ideal partner for this historic opportunity.”

Set on Cabo’s Most Desirable Beach, Auberge Resorts Collection’s Newest Property Dazzles With Design, Activities and Culinary Experiences

Chileno Bay Resorts & Residences opened its doors today, ushering in a new expression of contemporary luxury to the Cabo landscape. Managed by Auberge Resorts Collection, acclaimed owner and operator of boutique luxury hotels, resorts, residences and private clubs, the resort is set on Chileno Bay, the most coveted swimming beach in Los Cabos, offering guests a free-spirited beachfront lifestyle. The resort complements the award-winning Esperanza, an Auberge Resort, known for its intimate setting perched on the bluffs of Punta Ballena outside of Cabo San Lucas.

“Chileno Bay Resort & Residences becomes our second exceptional resort in the dynamic destination of Los Cabos,” said Dan Friedkin, Chairman, Auberge Resorts Collection. “We are particularly excited to be collaborating with another premier luxury brand, Discovery Land Company, to introduce a boutique luxury resort to its exclusive private community of Chileno Bay. Glazier Le Architects’ and interior designer BAMO’s resort design radiates beach-side chic with clean lines, natural wood and hand-cut local stone accented with traditional Mexican design elements. A 450-foot-long swimming pool anchors the resort like a river flowing to the sea, and the surrounding landscape, designed by master planner Girvin & Associates, celebrates the natural beauty and diversity of coastal Baja.

The resort is alive with a spontaneous and playful energy driven by active experiences for guests, from nighttime standup paddle boarding or water cycling on state-of-the-art Schiller S1 bikes, and elevated, yet playful culinary experiences inspired by the vibrant palate of Latin America.
